Festetics Palace

From the mid-18th century for 200 years, the Festetics family, one of Hungary's most significant noble and later aristocratic families, resided in the Festetics Palace, the main tourist attraction of Keszthely. Nowadays, the palace operates as a museum called the Helikon Castle Museum, where six permanent exhibitions are displayed in five buildings.

The Baroque-style, one-story, U-shaped palace had slightly protruding wings and consisted of 34 rooms. After multiple renovations and refurbishments, the palace now stands before visitors in its full glory and hosts numerous cultural events and exhibitions.

The Festetics Palace park is now a protected area. In the palace park, there is a palm house and a former carriage house that now houses an exhibition of carriages. Opposite the park's rear exit, there is a new building that houses an exhibition of hunting and a historical model railway exhibition.
